Public hearing on M. Fine & Sons Nat'l Register nomination

The former M. Fine & Sons shirt factory building, 1420 East Main Street, is being nominated for listing in the National Register of Historic Places based on its historic and architectural significance. The building is scheduled to undergo rehabilitation and conversion to housing, and listing on the National Register will allow the project to utilize rehabilitation tax credits as part of the financing.

The Historic Preservation Commission will hold a public hearing on the proposed nomination on Wednesday, 20 April 2016, as part of the Commission's regular monthly meeting. The hearing will be held at 7:00 PM in the third floor Assembly Room of the City-County Building, 311 Hauss Square in downtown New Albany. Any members of the public are welcome to attend and voice their opinion on the nomination.

The National Register of Historic Places is the official list - administered by the National Park Service - of sites, buildings, structures, districts and objects important to our history. National Register designation is primarily honorary and does not place any restrictions on property owners within the district; however, it would qualify those owners to use rehabilitation tax credits to help offset qualified rehabilitation costs.
